Collage, Matuschka with Gustav Klimt
The New York Times Magazine in 1993 carried on its cover a photograph of the model, Matuschka, who had undergone a mastectomy. I combined her image with sensuous feminine fragments by Gustav Klimt to say that her beauty supercedes the mutilation of the surgery. The title of the article, "You Can't Look Away Anymore" applies to more than one thing we turn away from, hence the juxtaposition of this collage with Sarah of the Binding of Isaac horror.
